In this book, Bill Gates tells the history of Microsoft, and how he starts his innovation. He gives a brief introduction about the beginning of the information age and the history of computer science, which is easy for kids to understand.
Bill Gates started programming when he was 13. He had a mission when he was very young, which later became Microsoft's corporate mission.
"A computer on every desk and in every home"
Bill Gates and his friends followed the mission and have worked to help make this possible. Let's pay attention here - the story approved the point again that mission or vision is important for everyone who wants to be successful.
Today, I read the third chapter. Many interesting stories from the computer industry. Microsoft was a tiny company which finally developed to a big computer company in 5 years. Except They have a clear vision about the information highway, their experience gives us some good points:
- "no product stays on top unless it is improved", they have been changing their products all the time. (innovation all the time)
- free or low prices to get more customers, then they can survive (Marketing strategy)
- pay attention on your mistakes, you will learn a lot from them.
